FORT WALTON BEACH — Officials say a 62-year-old woman was seriously injured after being bitten Friday morning by a neighbor’s pit bull, which fled after it was Tased by an Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputy.

Animal control officers from the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society found the dog, whose name is LuLu, hiding under a car several hours later with the Taser barb still in her nose.
Because she had the barb in her nose and was under a car, officers tranquilized her to take her to PAWS.
Deputies reported the dog bit the woman on Hickory Street in Sylvania Heights just after 11 a.m. The woman was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with injuries described as “serious” on preliminary reports.
Her condition was not available late Friday afternoon.
By the time animal control officers responded to the call, the dog had been Tased and had run into a swampy area. Her owner told the officers she wasn’t going to look for the animal and that it would come back on its own.
It wasn’t LuLu’s first brush with the law. The dog bit someone else in October 2016, according to PAWS officials.
