Animal control truck overturns in St. Petersburg

FLORIDA -- Officials say no animals were injured after a Pinellas County Animal Control truck crashed and flipped over Monday morning.

The accident happened at 5th Avenue South and 37th Street South. Investigators say the truck collided with a car after one of the vehicles ran a red light.

Acting Lt. Robert Neuberger of fire station 3 holds one of
the dogs rescued from an overturned Animal Control truck.

Firefighters freed the driver of the truck and then rescued two dogs and one cat from the boxed compartment on top of the vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for observation.

Both dogs and the cat appeared fine.
